perimeter is all the sides added together so that would be the first step. 4+4+8+4= 20 then to find the missing sides you would simply add the total of length so 4+8=12. so the bottom would be 12 and then to get the missing side you add 4+4=8. the final step is to add the sides all together 4+8+4+4+8+12=40
