help calc!!
@3mar
really not sure about this one....
well @3mar :-)
can you give a hint?
i think it is D.. what do you think??? Message me please
@3mar
so do you now this one?
@jim_thompson5910 please helP!
Hint: here's the graph of the piecewise function (I used geogebra to graph) See attached
@jim_thompson5910 ??? i still don't know..
what's the highest point shown on that graph?
12 @jim_thompson5910
yes that's the final answer. The point I'm asking about is (4,12) but y = 12 is the y coordinate they want
plug in 4, out comes 12 12 is the largest output
well what about these 2...am i right in the second one?? and i have no clue about the first
@jim_thompson5910
show me what you have for problem 3
i have nothing so far.... but am i right on 4??
let me check
#4 is correct. Nice work
what about 3... thank you by the way:-)!
Let x = short side of the rectangle y = long side of the rectangle Let's make the long side be along the river |dw:1481349722613:dw| we have 2 sides of x and 1 side of y. The perimeter is therefore P = 2*x + y 1200 = 2*x + y ... plug in P = 1200 (given amount of fencing) y = 1200-2x y = -2x+1200 Let f(x) = area of the rectangle area = f(x) area = (length)*(width) area = x*y area = x*(-2x+1200) area = -2x^2+1200x So, f(x) = -2x^2+1200x will be used to help figure out the max area
