OpenStudy (ravenwolf1997):

1. Polar Easterlies in the Northern Hemisphere blow from? 2. Westerlies in the Northern Hemisphere blow from?

OpenStudy (tanya123):

Cold heavy air flows south from the north pole and is bent west, forming the polar easterlies. Warm air rises at the equator drawing air from the north which bends to the west, contributing to the trade winds. The Coriolis effect bends the westerlies and trade winds slightly clockwise in the northern hemisphere.

OpenStudy (tanya123):

At the surface, the air flows from these subtropical high-pressure belts toward the Equator but is deflected toward the west in both hemispheres by the Coriolis Effect. Thus, these winds blow predominantly from the northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and from the southeast in the Southern Hemisphere.
