OpenStudy (sharkfinsoup):

A pulley system has an efficiency of 81.8%. If you perform 1100 J of work, how much useful work does the pulley perform?

OpenStudy (osprey):

The efficiency of a "simple" machine is the work got out divided by the work put in times 100 percent. If you perform 1100 Joules of work, then that's what you put in. (work got out/1100)x100=81.8 work got out/11=81.8 work got out = 11x81.8 = 899.8 Joules
