so you basically need to balance the number of each element on both sides for example in \[2H _{2}+O _{2}---H _{2}O\] on the left side there are 4 atoms of H and 2 of O, but on the other side there are 2 atoms of H and only one oxygen. So to balance the equation you have to put a 2 before the molecule of water( H2O ) Remember that the number before any molecule multiplies all the elements of that molecule. So in 2H2O: for hydrogen we will have 2*2=4 and for Oxygen 2*1=2
