OpenStudy (2001):

The angle of the roof on Wendy's dollhouse is 56°. She built a scale model of the dollhouse with a scale ratio 1:4. What is the measure of the angle of the roof of the model she built?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

draw it!

OpenStudy (2001):

How?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

dw:1482357101362:dw

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

and then fill in the details :)

OpenStudy (2001):

Can you explain? I really don't understand.

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

dw:1482357433922:dw

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

what do you actually need to calculate? Btw

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

cos it's 56deg is your just scaling down :-)

OpenStudy (2001):

`What is the measure of the angle of the roof of the model she built?`

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

****The angle of the roof on Wendy's dollhouse is 56°.****

OpenStudy (2001):

Wouldn't it be different as we're referring to a scale model?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

no!!

OpenStudy (2001):

Why not?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

ask Euclid !!

OpenStudy (2001):

The father of Geometry?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

who?

OpenStudy (2001):

This is irrelevant. Can you explain the question?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

cool!! now "what would Euclid say" ??

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

“The laws of nature are but the mathematical thoughts of God.”

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

we are talking: similar triangles

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

rip idk either good luck

OpenStudy (2001):

What does the question mean by saying, "She built a scale model of the dollhouse with a scale ratio `1:4.`"

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

i think she made it 0.4 times bigger. so that is \(1 \to 1.4\) what do you think??

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

Oh pants (!!) , with a scale ratio of 1:4, that means a 4x

OpenStudy (2001):

Right. Considering that, what would the answer be?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

same angle, right?

OpenStudy (2001):

I don't even understand the question.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

This is a trivial question that requires neither calculation nor picture. It's a scale model. Why would the angles change? Scale models are intended to reproduce their larger copies. The lengths change. The angles mustn't.

OpenStudy (2001):

Well, what do you suggest then?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

Mmmm

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

A ban ?!?!

OpenStudy (2001):

This is a waste of time.

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

Wendy's Dollhouse agrees :)

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

dw:1482360352603:dw

OpenStudy (welshfella):

lol !!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

THe model has exactly the same shape as the dollhouse. Structures with the same shape have equal angles . So the answer is 56 degrees.
