At the most remote end of the crypt there appeared another less spacious. Its walls had been lined with human remains, piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris. Three sides of this interior crypt were still ornamented in this manner. From the fourth side the bones had been thrown down, and lay promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size. In the passage above, the author’s word choice creates a mood of _____. loneliness romance suspense vengeance
I would say Romance, correct me if i'm wrong.
What makes you think it's romance?
@GucciAbe
It sounds like a description of a Heart Shaped Box and it included Paris a place of romance.
@Elsa213
Err, I know choice A is incorrect. <.<
But it's literally talking about human remains. D?
C could work too though. e.e
It's not A for sure. @Ultrilliam
Waittt It's C, sorry /.< I was reason something else. /.\
So not D? xD
Asdfghjkl I don't know >.< I will hush now. ;-;
It's not loneliness or romance.
Could be D, cause of the human remains. But C too cause it's suspicious and all the details .-.
That's why I think it is C. o:
Go with C, and if we're wrong, don't come for us..xD
^ cx
This descriptive language does not make one feel alone. Rather it introduces closed quarters with the presence of the dead all around. The whole paragraph brings forth the presence of the place, which dissuades against option A overall. Option D has no real grounds in this paragraph, as what in particular would gives a mood of vengeance? Perhaps towards the individual who had thrown the bones down, but nothing in particular is said about the person who handled those bones so we cannot assume this. That leaves us with option B and C.
Asdfghjkl Those are my guesses @.@
Shadow no it's not romance, damn it.
What's romantic about any of that!? The hanging body remains?!
I like the idea of option B as descriptive language can point to a fascination with something. The use of the world "promiscuous" could denote a perverse interest in the dead. Yet I believe this is reading into the language too much, and that is not what the author intends. Therefore, as it usually is with descriptive language, it is to build up suspense.
Time to put my thinking cap on ._.
-scrolls up to read question-
Now it's B? e.e
I was correct at the beginning? @.@
Oh yes @Shadow Taking about a "pile of human remains" is very romantic c;'
Talking*
I believe it's C
The word 'promiscuous' refers to sexual relationships between partners, so yes, it is something to consider. Although there would need to be more indicators of romance to consider that as what the author intended to set as the mood. That's why I stated it is suspense.
..... -face palm-
Yassssss @.@ I was correct~ cx <3
