jordan5980:

What is the correct balanced chemical equation for this reaction?

jordan5980:

Methane, CH4, burns in oxygen gas to form water and carbon dioxide.

jordan5980:

A. CH4 + O → H2O + CO2 B. CH4 + O2 → H2O + CO2 C. CH4 + 2O2 → 2H2O + CO2 D. CH4 + 4O → 2H2O + CO2

Ferredoxin4:

A and D are wrong because Oxygen is a diatomic, it must be bonded to itself twice in natural state. That leaves B or C. Count the total reactants and products on each side. in B there are 7 in reactants, 6 in products. Not possible. In C, there is 9 on the reactants and 9 on products. So C would be the answer.
