hershi1699:

On the way to school, a student rides his bike to the bus stop. He then waits a few minutes for the bus to come and rides the bus to school. The bus stops at school, and he walks from the parking lot to his first class. Is the graph of his distance always increasing? Explain.

sophia333:

The first segment is increasing at a slope equal to the average speed of his bike. The second segment is horizontal i.e. no increase in distance. The third segment is increasing at a slope equal to the average speed of the bus. And the final segment is increasing at a slope equal to the average speed of his walk. Therefore, yes it is always increasing.

draebrewer:

the graph is only thing that is increasing when the student rides his bike, bus, and walks
