In the painting "School of Athens", why do you think Raphael chose to paint himself standing among the Greek philosophers, and to paint some of the Greek philosophers to resemble his contemporaries Bramante and Leonardo da Vinci?
According to what I found, the people in the painting are supposed to represent, or maybe were examples of, "Philosophy, Poetry (including Music), Theology, and Law", and, "by including resemblances of his contemporaries, he is comparing their work to the famed philosophers, putting them in the leagues of those with 'divine inspiration'." (Found on brainly.com) I hope this answer isn't too direct, if it is I'm sorry and let me know, and I'll delete it.
Thank you i have been stuck on this answer for a while so this is alot of help!!!
