Here's an example with some easier numbers for you to understand this concept. You go to the store and you see this new game that costs $100. You have a coupon that gives you 25% discount off. How much are you saving? How much do you pay? You have a 25% discount off of something that costs $100. That means you save 25% * 100 or 0.25 * 100 = 25 You save $25! If you're saving 25 dollars then how much did you end up paying? It's going to be 100 - 25 = 75 You pay $75!

Then to finally calculate how much the student ticket costs, you subtract how much you're saving from the original price of the ticket
