weebgirl:

Dimas reads that it takes 270 N to lift a firefighter’s equipment. If a firefighter does 5400 J of work carrying the equipment up a staircase, how high does the firefighter climb? (Work: W = Fd) A.20 m B.200 m C.5130 m D.1,458,000 m

BabydollBlake:

Firstly, what do you think the answer is and why?

weebgirl:

i think its D

BabydollBlake:

Can you tell me why??

weebgirl:

what i did was multiply 270 and 5400 together

AZ:

so work = Force * distance We know work is 5400 J and the force is 270 N so 270 = 5400 * distance

AZ:

you have to divide not multiply

weebgirl:

ok so that means its A?

AZ:

yes! (also I accidentally wrote the equation wrong 5400 = 270 * distance so yes it would be A
