When a function has a domain and range of all real numbers, that means you can plug in any x-value and you'll get any y-value You can see that in your equation, we have x in the denominator If x equals to a number that makes the denominator 0, then the entire function will be undefined. This means that the domain for the function is all real numbers EXCEPT the values of x that make the function undefined For the range, it's all the possibly y-values that can result from the domain of the function. When you have a quadratic equation, you're going to have y-values that don't go past the vertex so your range is not all real numbers in that instance. Similarly, if you have an absolute value function, the y-values are limited. For example, think of the graph of y = |x|. There are no y-values that are negative so the range is from 0 to infinity You can also always graph it and see if the function is undefined anywhere.

So for your question @artlover03 What x-value makes the function undefined? Set the denominator equal to 0

You can also take a look at the graph https://www.desmos.com/calculator/6r7qcb9tua What are all the possible y-values?
