xloverofmine:

how to factor trinomials lol

snowflake0531:

Can you give an example of what you need to do?

xloverofmine:

1x2 + 8x + 15

snowflake0531:

so, x^2 + 8x+15

snowflake0531:

First, you should know that we want the form in (x+/- _)(x+/-_)

snowflake0531:

We know that 15 is a positive, so it's for sure (x+_)(x+_), since 8x is also positive

snowflake0531:

We know the factors are 1, 15 3, 5

snowflake0531:

We need the two factors to add up to 8, so we choose 3 and 5

snowflake0531:

So then we get (x+3)(x+5) you can then use FOIL to recheck if it is correct

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @jhonyy9 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @snowflake0531 so, x^2 + 8x+15 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) maybe good to know this formula x^2 +Sx +P = 0 where S = x_1 +x_2 P = x_1 *x_2 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

snowflake0531:

there's a formula for this?

snowflake0531:

?_?

jhonyy9:

have you heard about ViƩte formulas ?

snowflake0531:

No, I do the factoring by factoring lmao I never knew there was a formula for this....

jhonyy9:

@AZ opinion pls ? ty

KynxKatz:

Its more like quadratic formula

KynxKatz:

If u can solve quadratic very well, i think this would be easy 4 u in no time
