@AZ

darkknight:

f((1/3)x-1)+1 = f(1/3(x - 3))+1 do you agree with this or no

jnlkmnjkm:

yep

darkknight:

lets continue, first we will perform horizontal dilations, so the 1/3 inside the function f would tell us that we are Stretching by a factor of 3, if you remember what I told you in the other problem, anyways, at this point every point (x, y) on the original will transform to (3x, y) now we need to perform any horizontal shifts, we have a (x-3) which would shift RIGHT by 3 units, next we have vertical dilations but there are none for this problem, lastly we have vertical shifts, we move all points up by 1.

darkknight:

so every point (x, y) transforms to (3x+3, y+1) for example the point at (0, 0) will go to (3, 1) because (3(0)+3, 0+1) which is (3, 1) the point (1, 1) will go to (3(1)+3, 1+1) = (6, 2) the point (-1, 1) will go to (3(-1) + 3, (1)+1) = (0, 2) the point (-2, 2) will go to (3(-2)+3, (2)+1) = (-3, 3)
