1234Robotnomore1234:

How do I calculate total surface area of a cylinder?

Florisalreadytaken:

\[\text{TOTAL A. of a cylinder}=2πr(r+h)\]

1234Robotnomore1234:

so, 2 times pi.

Florisalreadytaken:

what?

1234Robotnomore1234:

Can you better explain. I'm sorry, I just need better explanation.

Aphmau:

For a cylinder, there is 2 kinds of formulas the lateral and the total. the lateral surface area is just the sides the formula for that is 2(pi)radius(height). the formula for the total surface area is 2(pi)radius(height) + 2(pi)radius squared.

Florisalreadytaken:

sure it would initially be \( 2πrh+2πrh \) therefore, the total area of a cylinder would be \( 2πr(r+h) \)

1234Robotnomore1234:

Ok, thank you Flor and Aph

Aphmau:

Your Welcome Just a heads up i am a fast replier

Florisalreadytaken:

lapsus i mean \ 2πrh+2πrh^2 \) lol!
