Alex drew a circle with right triangle PRQ inscribed in it, as shown below: If the measure of arc QR is 80°, what is the measure of angle PQR? 50° 40° 80° 70°

@snowflake0531

snowflake0531:

Do you remember a screenshot of the stuff AZ posted yesterday, the outer arc thing, in this case QR, is double the angle of RPQ So what is RPQ?

Seafoam:

I dont remember it by memory.. Imma try to go back

snowflake0531:

It's just that the little angle is half of the outer angle thingy

Seafoam:

And which angles would that be?

snowflake0531:

RPQ is half of QR

Seafoam:

Do you mean QR is half of RPQ..?

snowflake0531:

no?

snowflake0531:

I mean, if RPQ was 160 degrees it owuld be obtuse e.e

Seafoam:

But RPQ is larger than QR so- it what

Seafoam:

*confusion*

snowflake0531:

How is QR smaller e.e

Seafoam:

Oh schiist I see what you mean now

snowflake0531:

lol, so what is the degree measure of RPQ

Seafoam:

Well R's 90 thats obvious.. is that what you're asking?

snowflake0531:

But what's P lol

Seafoam:

Oh

snowflake0531:

It's halfof hte arc, so half of 40

Seafoam:

Ok dont triangles have to make 180?

snowflake0531:

Yes that is why, to find PQR< we first need to find P, so we can add P with 90, and subtract it from 180

Seafoam:

But what about the 80?

snowflake0531:

You need the 80 to find P.... Since P is half of hte arc

snowflake0531:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @snowflake0531 You need the 80 to find P.... Since P is half of hte arc \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) and the arc is 80

Seafoam:

Yeah so 40

snowflake0531:

Ye so 40+90+x=180

Seafoam:

But couldnt you 80+90= bla and bla - 180?

snowflake0531:

No, because 80 isn't part of hte triangle.... it's an outer arc

Seafoam:

Oh scchist ok I see

Seafoam:

Thanks!

snowflake0531:

lol so what is the angle lol

snowflake0531:

oh, yw~ xd

Seafoam:

Uh 40?

snowflake0531:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @snowflake0531 Ye so 40+90+x=180 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) ._.

Seafoam:

Ywah...

Seafoam:

._.

snowflake0531:

find x e.e

Seafoam:

Wait the hecks X

snowflake0531:

40+90+x=180 130+x=180 what's x

snowflake0531:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Seafoam Wait the hecks X \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) x is the angle that you're trying to find, it's just easier to write x than PQR

Seafoam:

Wait where did 130 come from??

Seafoam:

Oh wait

Seafoam:

*head slap*

snowflake0531:

40+90 3 angles add up to 180 one of htem is a right angle, the other is 40, because it's half of hte arc

Seafoam:

I figured it out after a second 😅😅

snowflake0531:

lol, so you got the answer?

Seafoam:

So did I?

snowflake0531:

no it's not 40 e.e 130+x = 180 Redo subtraction lol

Seafoam:

50

snowflake0531:

ye xddd

Seafoam:

I an now deceased

snowflake0531:

LOL
