so once again volume = 1/3 * pi * r^2 * h but this time, they've told us the DIAMETER instead of the radius so if the diameter is 10, what is the radius?

Mez666:

5

Mez666:

could you walk me through this one az?

Mez666:

AZ?

AZ:

good so 5 is the radius and they told us the volume is 225 so volume = 1/3 * pi * r^2 * h now just put those numbers into the formula 225 = 1/3 * pi * (5^2) * h can you solve for h?

Mez666:

8.6?

AZ:

hmm not quite what is 5^2 = ? and then divide that on both sides and then divide \(\pi\) on both sides and then multiply by 3 on both sides and that way you'll have 'h' all by itself

Mez666:

5^2=25

AZ:

okay so now we have 225 = 1/3 * pi * 25 * h so maybe it would just be easier if we reduce the steps hahah what is 1/3 * pi * 25 = ?

Mez666:

235.6

Mez666:

lol

AZ:

can you re-do that I had accidentally made a typo and wrote 3 instead of 1/3

Mez666:

lol sure

Mez666:

26.2

AZ:

good, and let's keep some more digits for now until we get to the final answer so we have 225 = 26.18 * h and now, do you know how to solve for h? we want to get it all by itself and since we're multiplying it with 26.18 then to get rid of that, we need to do the opposite of multiplication so we have to divide by 26.18 on both sides

Mez666:

8.4

AZ:

hmm I think there's some rounding error what is 225/ 26.18 = ?

Mez666:

8.6

AZ:

There you go! That's your final answer :)

Mez666:

lol

Mez666:

thx

AZ:

you're welcome
