The National Association Opposed to Women Suffrage published a pamphlet in 1894 stating the reasons why they opposed votes for women. One of their reasons was: "Because it is our fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons who represent us at the ballot-box. Our fathers and our brothers love us; our husbands are our choice, and one with us; our sons are what WE MAKE THEM. We are content that they represent US in the corn-field, on the battle-field, and at the ballot-box, and we them in the school-room, at the fireside, and at the cradle, believing our representation even at the ballot-box to be thus more full and impartial than it would be were the views of the few who wish suffrage adopted contrary to the judgment of the many." A proposed Equal Rights Amendment states: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." In a paragraph of three to five complete sentences, explain the position the National Association Opposed to Women Suffrage would take in regard to this proposed amendment.
I need ideas
I think what it says is that you need to explain the paragraph in you're own words in 3-5 sentences.
So try to take maybe not each sentence and explain it in you're own way.
So, maybe start by: In 1894... and explain the first sentence.
So, (don't copy this it's just an example) In 1894, only males were allowed to represent women in the ballet-box. Again this is just an example so try to come up with you're own 3-5 sentence paragraph.
Still need help?
Yes
Okay did you come up with anything?
No not yet, i am still trying to come up with more stuff
Okay read this carefully and try to rewrite this in you're own words like I did there. Because it is our fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons who represent us at the ballot-box.
Is there more to this?
Or it's the final question?
I am just having trouble explaining the position the National Association Opposed to Women Suffrage would take in regard to this proposed amendment.
This? The National Association Opposed to Women Suffrage (NAOWS) was founded in the United States by women opposed to the suffrage movement in 1911. It was the most popular anti-suffrage organization in northeastern cities. NAOWS had influential local chapters in many states, including Texas and Virginia.
Well its asking In a paragraph of three to five complete sentences, explain the position the National Association Opposed to Women Suffrage would take in regard to this proposed amendment.
National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage (NAOWS), organization formed in New York City in 1911 during a convention of state antisuffrage groups. Led by Josephine Dodge, the founder and first president, the NAOWS believed that woman suffrage would decrease women’s work in communities and their ability to effect societal reforms. Active on a state and federal level, the group also established a newsletter, Woman’s Protest (reorganized as Woman Patriot in 1918), that was a bellwether of antisuffrage opinion. In 1918 the NAOWS moved its headquarters to Washington, D.C., where it operated until its disbandment following the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920. Woman Patriot continued to be published through the 1920s, generally opposing the work of feminists and liberal women’s groups. Okay read this and see if it helps.
Is this good? I think that they would still be opposed to women voting. Though they are the backbones of the men in their lives they were still seen as not having much of an opinion on political matters. Women were also key in votes because of the pressure the people that were being voted for were given because of the women
Yes that's pretty good. Try it out.
Ok thanks so much for all the help
