Seafoam:

Which conclusion or conclusions about agriculture can be drawn about formerly colonized countries in tropical and subtropical regions? The country's agriculture suffers because the arable land is being used up by industrial companies. The country has seen mass immigration from the former colonizing country, and these immigrants work in agriculture. Plantation agriculture is practiced to support the economy of developed countries. Commercial agriculture is primarily practiced to build the country's economy. The country has industrialized due to financial support from the former colonizers.

crispyrat:

hmm im not so sure with this one sorry :( @AZ can you help them

Seafoam:

@smokeybrown

SmokeyBrown:

I would guess that A is the best answer, since the other options aren't necessarily true of subtropical countries that were formerly colonized. It might be better to get a third opinion on this one

@AZ

AZ:

hmm I would eliminate B and E right off the bat because they don't make sense and aren't true. But between the rest, I'm trying to make sense of this one source that I found https://www.iatp.org/sites/default/files/Agriculture_in_Developing_Countries_Which_Way_.htm These formerly colonized countries could be considered as developing countries I'm sure "In developing countries, agriculture continues to be the main source of employment, livelihood and income for between 50% - 90% of the population. Of this percentage, small farmers make the up the majority, up to 70-95% of the farming population." And in other places, it mentions industrial methods but not necessarily industrial companies or maybe I'm just not understanding it and small farm owners are actually being driven out of farming by these industrial practices? so that's why I feel hesitant about answer choice A but it could be the answer hmm

AZ:

Is there only one correct answer choice for this question?

AZ:

I found this question online. (Wouldn't it be so much more convenient if they had the answer as well?) But if your question only has one correct answer then that means we can narrow it down to those two options

Seafoam:

Yeah you only pick one (sorry I left)

AZ:

Well actually, in that case I was leaning towards D for some reason but it's not an option listed all by itself in that question I just shared "Large-scale commercial agriculture accounts for about 40 percent of deforestation in the tropics and subtropics, local subsistence agriculture for 33 percent, infrastructure for 10 percent, urban expansion for 10 percent and mining for 7 percent. There are significant regional variations, however: for example, commercial agriculture accounts for almost 70 percent of the deforestation in Latin America but for only one-third in Africa, where small-scale agriculture is a more significant driver of deforestation. " http://www.fao.org/3/i5588e/i5588e.pdf but that's discussing deforestation but like it made it seem like commercial agriculture is prevalent

AZ:

However, in the remaining two answer choices answer choice C says DEVELOPED countries so I guess that's what should lead you to your final answer

Seafoam:

Aaa

AZ:

yeah, so I'd ultimately have to agree with Smokey :)
