noobpro78:

The scatter plot shows the number of visitors to a beach and the high temperature for 25 days. To understand the trend of the data, does it make sense to connect all of the data points? What could you do to the graph to represent the general trend of the data? Why?

JamesTDG:

mind posting the scatter plot?

Fan999:

You would want to connect the data points because you would then be able to determine if the temperature high for those 25 days would have been increasing or decreasing. Hope this helps

Mercury:

Generally, to represent trends on a scatterplot, we draw a trendline that shows the general pattern of the data points. We don't connect *every single point*, but we estimate/use an algorithm that will calculate one representative line that best captures the trend. Here's an example, using a different set of data. Notice how not all the points are connected. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/linear-regression-trendline.png
