Fan999:

One of the first crises of the Cold War was the “Berlin Airlift.” What happened in the Airlift and how did America respond?

Honess:

are there answer choices? or is it an open question?

Fan999:

Open question.

Honess:

ok, what do u know about this situation?

Fan999:

From what I can remember about the topic I know they were dropping goods to Berlin to try and essentially make up for the damage they did. And Berlin did not want our help. At I think it lasted like 3-4 years until Berlin did not have to ration food anymore.

Honess:

Thats close, but from what my history teacher told me, it was the Soviets blocking off pathways for food and water, and supplies to get to allied forces, so the United States, and the United Kingdoms started airlifting things to Berlin.

Fan999:

Ok, thank you for the better information. I thought that that would be the answer but I'm not to sure how that answers the "how did America respond?" part besides them airlifting goods to Berlin.

Honess:

Yeah, they started airlifting goods to Berlin, maybe someone else can chime in with more information, but I havent taken a History class this year, so my anser may be a little vague or not right.

Fan999:

Okay, thank you (:
