Helpp plss.....During the Industrial Revolution, how did innovations in technology affect the use of slave labor in the United States? 1. Innovations in agricultural technology increased the production of cotton. As a result, Southern plantations needed greater numbers of enslaved workers. 2. Innovations in agricultural technology meant that fewer workers were needed on Southern plantations. As a result, the demand for slave labor decreased. 3. Innovations in manufacturing technology increased production in Southern factories. As a result, immigrants worked alongside enslaved workers. 4. Innovations in manufacturing technology increased the output of industry in the North. As a result, factories increased their use of slave labor.

SmokeyBrown:

I think the right answer might be 2, since with machines the same amount of work can be done with fewer people. I could see 3 as a plausible answer, but I think 2 is the best choice of the ones available

Cboler26:

But more factories were built. And people still had to run these machines, and more machines to run means more workers, and more factories means way more workers. You have to think they were in the 1900 the didnt have self working machines. They still had to run the machines so the demand went up when they made more machines and factories.

SmokeyBrown:

That part is understandable, but I don't think it was slaves working the machines. If the work becomes easier, hiring unskilled laborers would be more cost effective than keeping slaves. Plus, by the 1900s slavery was already abolished in the US

bbgmari:

Soooo two? lmao

Cboler26:

No

Cboler26:

Lemme type

bbgmari:

Oop ok lol

Cboler26:

But you have to think about it. Some people(White Americans) already had jobs from the start. People did not want to risk getting hurt so when they got as many people as the could they needed more because the were building more factories. More factories equals more people, but when a certain group of people are not willing it gets harder. And back in the day their way of fixing that wasss slavery.

I've done my research and have had people who know more than i do agree with me

Fair enough. I was just giving my best guess, but if you say you've done research then that's even better. If everything you've said is true, then the reasoning makes sense, so I think it'd be fine to go with choice 2

Cboler26:

It is what it is now. You can go off what i said or what he said. 2 or 3. But i cant convice someone who doesn't wanna be convinced. But hey good conversation. Bye

I mean, I was agreeing with you there. I decided to do a bit of research for myself, and I found a source that seems to support the industrial revolution decreasing the demand for slavery https://lawaspect.com/effects-industrial-revolution-slavery/ I'm sure you have your reasons for believing what you do, but it's just not something that I've seen. Of course, I'll try to keep an open mind and an open eye :)

Cboler26:

Wtvr you say

bbgmari:

Well thanks for the help lol I appreciate it

SmokeyBrown:

It's not a problem. I can even say that I learned some things myself lol

Cboler26:

Tell me who was right plz

Cboler26:

I've got more information. So in the reaasions(prob spelled that wrong) period they didnt use much slave labor. What they did was when they were in the period of freeing some slaves they would arrest them for simply walking down the street and say they were loitering. So then they would be sentenced to sometimes life sentences and then they were under state property. So they were technically not slaves but they were.

bbgmari:

I went with three lol

Cboler26:

Did you get it right

bbgmari:

Idk I'm not completely done with the test yet

Cboler26:

K

Astrid1:

Hold on, did you say test?

Astrid1:

If so, we're not allowed to help on tests. So for future reference let's not post test questions.

Cboler26:

True
