Xtian16:

Choose a real-world large-sized enterprise and determine: a. Is information technology seen as a strategic asset? b. Does an enterprise architecture program exist? c. Are there gaps in business/technology performance that an enterprise architecture program could help identify and correct?

SmokeyBrown:

Welcome to QuestioCove and thanks for asking your first question. First thing's first, do you have a "real-world large-sized enterprise" that you'd like to look at for this question? After you decide on one, we can work to answer the other parts of the question

Xtian16:

Enterprise Architecture, I guess? I'm having troubles with my studies due to this pandemic. Really appreciate it if you can help. ^_^

Xtian16:

How about Media?

SmokeyBrown:

No problem, I'd like to help if I can. In this context, I think "enterprise" is used to mean like a company or a business. Kind of like Amazon, for example? So we'll look at a specific "enterprise" (a specific company or business) and think about how they use technology and strategy to achieve success. That's my interpretation of what the question is asking, anyway.

SmokeyBrown:

I still think we should start by choosing a "real-world large-sized enterprise" to think about. Try to think of any big company that interests you, and we can look at that in more detail.

Xtian16:

Got it. Hmm, I'm thinking of Walmart. Could you help me understand more?

SmokeyBrown:

Ok nice, Walmart seems like a solid choice. So now we can break down the other parts of the question. a. asks about Information Technology (which is the use of systems and devices, specifically computers, for retrieving, sending, and storing information) . So we can think of ways that Walmart uses Information Technology as a "strategic asset" for their business

SmokeyBrown:

One example might be customers making orders online, which would definitely be an example of IT. On an even more basic level, I'm sure Walmart uses IT to track the kinds of products they sell in order to know what is popular, how much to stock, how to price the products... that could also be a "strategic asset".

SmokeyBrown:

As for parts b. and c. I'm not really familiar with the term "enterprise architecture". Maybe you could tell me what you know about "enterprise architecture" to help me understand, and then we can go from there?

Xtian16:

Wow. Thank so much. Make sense to me now. I'll try to figure B, C on my own, I'll get back to you. Thanks for helping me. god bless ^_^

SmokeyBrown:

Ok awesome! Glad to hear you're on a roll, and feel free to come back if you need any more help :)
