When multiplying a number by 10, move the decimal to the right. When multiplying a number by 0.1, move the decimal to the left. Why?

AnimeWeeebLMAO:

When you are multiplying a number by 10, you switch the decimal point one place to the right. If you are multiplying by 1,000, you switch it to 3 places to the right. Then you move it again to the decimal point to the left when you are dividing by a multiple of 10.

other words, the number is getting smaller, because of the decimal
