If you get the Atomic number, you get the number of protons and number of protons is equal to the number of electrons so you have the number of electrons now.

Just want to point out that protons and electrons are only equal for neutral atoms For ions, you have to look at the charge. For example, neutral Na has 11 protons 11 electrons, but Na+ has one more proton than electron because of the +1 charge. So Na+ has 11 protons but only 10 electrons.
