KEY POINTS: 1. When removing an arrow from the target in archery, you should stabilize the target with one hand and pull the arrow with the other hand. 2. In archery you stand with your feet straddling the line/rope while facing the target. 3. Nocking the arrow is when you put the arrow on the string at the nock point. 4. Your shooting hand (release hand) should be near the jaw when shooting. 5. 1st whistle, walk up, and straddle rope 6. 2nd whistle, put wrist guard on, grab bow and nock arrow 7. 3rd whistle, you may shoot the arrows correctly 8. 4th whistle, place the bow down, and go retrieve the arrows. SAFETY 1. Make sure that the path to the target and beyond is clear. 2. Never point a drawn arrow at anything you do not intend to shoot. 3. Always be absolutely certain that the target is clearly visible, safe to shoot, and appropriate. 4. Always be aware of the dangerous areas at the end of the arrow. 5. Place an arrow on the string only when you are ready to take a shot. 6. Remain behind the shooting line until the signal is given to retrieve arrows. 7. When arrows are retrieved, all bows must remain on the stands or on the ground. 8. Never draw the bow (even without an arrow) while someone is in front of it. 9. When holding a bow, always face downrange. 10. Never “dry fire” a bow, i.e. draw and release the fully drawn string. Without an arrow.
