In your opinion, why did Martin Luther King, Jr. discourage people from fighting discrimination with violence? Is violence an effective means to create change?

Can you do this one "how has America changed over time? How did America's treatment of African Americans change through history, and how has it changed since this speech was delivered in 1963? What additional change is Martin Luther King, Jr. demanding in his speech?"

He promoted nonviolent tactics to achieve civil rights and led a number of peaceful protests. He can be remembered as the man who brought never-ending courage and light to those people who are different. He can be remembered as the man who broght forth fate. Who insisted on making it perfectly clear that every human being, is worth being alive despite their appearance, faith, speech-language, intelligence, etc. We remember him by those encouraging, inspirational words that they said with or without actually having to use their voice, though he had.
cbfitz46578:
I mean, how do you suppose that humankind is able to remember anyone.? We don't remember them from their appearances, but by the way, they have treated others. For we are unable to truly see what they look like until after viewing the words and actions that they both do and use towards the people around them. If you think about it, we actually are all born blind. Blind to the beautifully painful reality of the world around us.

Oh, I apologize, I am aware that I may have stretched out my thoughts a little bit, too much. But, hopefully, I have answered your question(s).

Thanks but how do people create change?
cbfitz46578:
People create change by doing the things in which they believe in and by having the ability to make a wrinkle in another's life. Sometimes just being there for another person, is the best thing that one could do. another is just listening to someone who is in need, hurting, and being afraid to share. Also, change doesn't necessarily have to be something big, it can be small. Even really small. Perhaps, the things that truly 'create' change are the people, which have gained the experiences from the impact that others had made upon their lives.

Thanks can you help me with one last question "what are the effects of prejudice? How does Martin Luther King, Jr. describe the prejudice that African Americans face?"
