Athenathegod:

Rectangle 1 has length x and width y. Rectangle 2 is made by multiplying each dimension of Rectangle 1 by a factor of k, where k > 0. (a) Are Rectangle 1 and Rectangle 2 similar? Why or why not? (b) Write a paragraph proof to show that the perimeter of Rectangle 2 is k times the perimeter of Rectangle 1. (c) Write a paragraph proof to show that the area of Rectangle 2 is 2 k times the area of Rectangle 1.

kurt:

I'm confused with what you're asking, but if it's in the form of "What should I do with this problem" I would choose C, Write a paragraph proof to show that the area of rectangle 2 is 2 k times the area of rectangle 1.

Athenathegod:

I think I have to all of three, I'm just no good at proofs

kurt:

I would email the teacher to make sure, instead of doing all of them and possibly wasting my time.

Athenathegod:

um sorry you really didn't have to respond if it's "a waste of your time"

Athenathegod:

I was just asking for help

kurt:

I wasn't even being mean, YOU took it as rude I was putting myself in YOUR position.

Athenathegod:

oh sorry

kurt:

I meant it in email your teacher instead of possibly wasting your time.

Athenathegod:

used to PA

Athenathegod:

Ok will do

kurt:

But anyways, I do that sometimes too. I wasn't being mean. If I am you'll definitely know. lol :)

Athenathegod:

Lol thanks

Timmyspu:

So why do you think it could be c? What parts to you already have done to support your reasoning for why it may be x?

Timmyspu:

Also I apologize I am on my phone right now.

NA. I go by my instinct and gut, and go with what ever goes with the question best than the others, only if it is a word problem.

Athenathegod:

Uh

kurt:

?

Athenathegod:

I don't think it's a multiple choice question I think it's saying to all three--unless you guys are reading it different and I have no idea how to prove what it's asking

Athenathegod:

screw it-
