Kavithan1:

Fast breeder reactors are seldom used anymore because of safety concerns, as they have a higher potential for explosions. But this explosion hazard does not come from the nuclear fission reaction. What does it come from? Explain your answer in just one or two sentences. Help Plz Immediately

Kavithan1:

please respond

YooGirlAriel14:

I did respond u could have just put it in your own words

Kavithan1:

i do not see an response

ExclusiveKylaa:

Fission, the process by which an atomic nucleus breaks into two or smaller nuclei, is used to power nuclear reactors. A little amount of mass is transformed into energy during fission, which can then be used to run a generator to generate electricity. A controlled chain reaction is required for fission to occur in order to utilize this energy. When a uranium nucleus splits in a reactor, two or more neutrons are released, which can be absorbed by other nuclei, prompting them to fission as well. As a result, more neutrons are emitted, resulting in continual fission.
