xxDeppressionxx:
Slow people

food
ILOVESPAGHETTI:
seriously, it'll depend on what person your asking. what do you need this for?
Elite:
Nothing, if you look at it objectively, we're just matter made up of atoms and quarks on a single planet out of the billions in the galaxy, we do not exist for an objective reason, but we exist to place our flag on this universe we call our home. Our actions dictate what gets put down in history, it's what we do as a species that leaves a mark on the universe. That is why it is important to look up at the stars in the night sky and consider the magnitude of the cosmos, and how we are as insignificant as the planet we live on as a species.

everything in life

But what is there that is within life itself that gives life meaning? What is there besides the complexities within us and all creatures that possess life to sense environments and stimuli around them? When one dies they lose the ability to sense, lose the ability to know the world around them and therefore become dead. So, again, I reiterate, what gives life meaning?
xxDeppressionxx:
That sucked
Elite:
What makes us as a species stand out is our intellect, and I think that's what we should acknowledge and not take for granted, our special ability to try and understand everything around us.
ILOVESPAGHETTI:
i personally see life as a pit stop. a corrupt world that we have to go through, where we lose people, earn people, and eventually end up dying. this life is something we go through to go to the next, but those are just my beliefs
Timmyspu:
This is not really a question that you can get one answer from it comes from a lot of people. You just have to find out what things give you your meaning and you go do it.

This ^^, it's up to the interpretation of the individual, us as humans are all capable of abstract thinking, and that's something unique about us.
FrogGirlEmmy:
what gives life meaning? Well, its about how you spend your life, you only have one life, and its nerve racking to see how You choose to spend that one life, But friends, family, Things you love give life meaning. without them, then Life Is meaning less
xxDeppressionxx:
All the people in the world would not just be able to give you one answer. That is because your brain comes up with more than one solution to a problem. Even if you are single minded you still have the ability to think, so that means if you have one answer there is a 50/50% probability that your mind will come up with another solution.
Jaynater:
So then, is it, that nothing really defines life to give it meaning. There is no one single thing to give life meaning, a singular definition. Is it rather that all life in itself is to give itself meaning? That the singular burning torch known to species is passed down through generations to do nothing more to live, learn, and die? Is it that we in ourselves, in all species, in all life, are given meaning through each other, or is it something else?

In this case everyone here is going to answer with more than one solution.

But of course, thinking isn't done individually. Thinking is done across people, not on one person.

Meaning is an artificial human fabrication. We interpret what we perceive as meaning, and we all do it different. But if you speak of it objectively, we're nothing but bits of matter that make up the miniscule amount of baryonic matter within the universe.
Elite:
In science, we seek to answer the big questions, this is especially true in my field of astronomy, where we seek to answer the questions "Why?" why anything? why are we here? and how?
I don't think they can be answered though, which is why I personally find it not worthwhile to chase the question around. They do make excellent guiding questions for why we do what we do however.
Jaynater:
So, objectively, life is in itself an accident; a byproduct of what once was. So is it, that was
is what is to then become renewed? Is that life in itself, a cycle of living to die and dying to live?
xxDeppressionxx:
Life has no meaning until you make it mean something. Whenever you think about it life is absolute meaning universally valid or viewed without relation to other things. So you should think about your life real close so that you can see the thing that means the most to you.

Somewhat, as you may or may not know, there is something known as the law of conservation of mass. Without getting into the technicalities, it states matter is neither created nor destroyed, only recycled. So you'd have the correct assumption on that.
So yes, if you look at it from our current knowledge of the universe as it is and as it was, as well as what it will be, we essentially are just a byproduct of the big bang, and we are generations of recycled matter from eons upon eons.

This cycle will continue on until the eventual death of the universe, whatever way that may entail (proton decay, heat death, etc. The study of the ultimate fate of the universe is pretty interesting, and the magnitude of the timescales involved is mind-boggling.
xxDeppressionxx:
Define life: life is the meaning of infinitely being reborn over and over again until you have served your purpose in the universe.

Yes, I know these things. I've seen these theories of the future and of the past. So then, if life has no meaning on a universal front, objectively, is it better to then live life with subjective value understanding that, objectively, no one aspect of life supersedes another?

Precisely. I believe it's best to live this way all things considered.

So we can then give life meaning by first understanding it has no meaning, understanding life's true value of nothing. Based on that, we can live understanding that no matter what, all aspects of life are equally balanced and flawed in their own way. Living with the knowledge that we are essentially nothing, and should live based upon that?
Jaynater:
From there, after understanding true values, you can appreciate everything around you subjectively. Is this what gives life meaning?
Jaynater:
I understand now.
Elite:
Indeed, good discussion, it's refreshing for me to get to talk about these things every once in a while. Thanks for bringing up the question.

thats a question people have been asking for years and have gotten many diffrent answers, some say love, some say power, some say science, some say family, but isnt that what give THEIR life meaning? so you ask yourself what gives you yours? is it the people around you that you in which you seek approvole, and wish liked you, when really they have always felt the same? is it the meal you eat that half the world goes weeks without, or the meals you skip to fit in those new jean? is it the beauty your loved ones see when when they look at you, that you cant seem to understand when you look in that mirror? is it that big test you spent days and days studying for just to be told "do better next time". is it the love your told your suppose to find when grow up, then find out there is no such thing as a happily ever after. the truth is no one knows! everyone is just trying their best to get by. Trying things and failing and being disapointed. That is the meanining of life trying, learning, and always getting back up.

@jadynb Then so be it the frustrations and complications of my mind that push me to do what I can with the limited time I'm given with the one chance I've been granted.
