P(6 and 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Help Please have to go to sleep in alittle :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you give me more details

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you roll one number cube twice. Find each Probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if its a 6 sided dice the probability is 0, because here is not a 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i right this P(6)=1/6 P(7)=0/6 P(6)*P(7)=0/6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this rigtht?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perhaps it's that you roll two dice, so you can numbers 2-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that possible?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i got all of them Wrong Since i did /6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says You Roll one Number cube TWICE. Find each probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well to get 6, you could have (1 & 5)x2, (2&4)x2, 3&3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is talking about the sum, there is 5 ways to get a sum of 6, and 6 ways to get a sum of 7, so the probability would be 11/36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So ur saying i got everything wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, it's been a while since I've done probability, let me think for a second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So What do i do for P(6) and P(7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 6 ways to roll one die...the ones that are relevant to us are 1 to 5 for the first die, so 5/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the p(6) is 5/36 since there is 5 ways to get a 6 (1 + 5, 5+1, 2+4, 4+2, 3+3) and there are 36 outcomes on 2 die

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is only one number on the next die that will give us our 6, no matter what we rolled first, so 1/6 for second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 5/36?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe so...wish someone would jump in here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the 7, all 6 on the first die can give us 7...and only one on the next die so, 6/36 for 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that work for your question?
