ok can somebody help me please i need help i got a question
whats the problem?
ok this is for my little brother he's in seventh he's working on probablity and we got stuck on a problem
what is the problem question?
what the main problem says is a number cube is rolled and a spinner is spun
and the problem is it say three or consonant
so that means we have to do one sixth times something
im sorry i dont understand what the question is asking u to find. sorry.
its in a book you probably wouldnt get it
ok there are five spots on a spinner
and a cube is rolled, the cube has six sides so thats where you get one sixth from
and it say three or consonant
no it says three and a consonant
so is it the addition of the two?
actually your multiplying
its one sixth times something
haha no i mean like if you add the sum of what you spin and what you roll
and the problem say three and a consonant
like the probability of a three and a constant?
whats a consonant
a constant is just a number. in this case, from what i assume from what you tell me, it would be just a number spun or rolled and you keep getting it. like roll the cube, get a 4. roll it again, get a 4. over and over...
so thats all it is is a number being rolled on a dice over and over
yeah or spun
so if thats what the question is asking, then you just multiply probability 1/6 * 1/5
these are letters though so we might say letters being spun over and over
BUT
oh ok so for multiple times you have 1/6 * 1/5 and then you add the same probability for the roll for however many times
like you want to roll a three a number every time for three times...the probability would be 1/6 * 1/5 + 1/6 * 1/5 + 1/6 * 1/5
but we looked in the back of the book and the answer is one over ten
ok let me see. can you just type the entire problem?
1/6 x 3/5
yeah that would be 1/10
and then i have to simplify that
and im guessing that would turn that into 1/10
yeah it would. its 1x3/(6x5) = 3/30 = 3/(3x10) = 1/10
do you see how it happened? it was by factoring out the three from the denominator and numerator
yeah
my brother wasnt explaning all the way
haha thats ok i was confused anyway
yep
now im really confused
it says factor of 6 and D
ok so whats the things on the spinner?
A-E
a factor of 6 means numbers that can multiply to get 6. if the numbers on the cube are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 then the factors are 1, 2, 3, and 6 so for the probability of a factor of six would be 4/6 or 2/3
and since they are a-e you want a d, the probability is 1/5 so multiply 2/3 * 1/5
hint: you can't simplify
I Got a question how did you get 1/5
because the spinner has five choices...its the same with the cube. you have six sides so the probability of getting say a 6 is 1/6 i.e. one out of six. since you spin and you have to land on one you have 1/5
