an observer on a cliff 1000dm above sea level sights two ships both due east of the edge of the cliff. the angle of depression from the observer to each ship is 47degrees and 32degrees. find the distance between the two ships to the nearest cm.

ok so you will have the following: model: since you are on a cliff thats 1000m high then obviously you are going to form a 90 degree triangle for both the ships. solve: for the first ship at 47 degrees ... you will see that 1000sin(90-47) = 682 and that the second ship is 1000*sin(90-32) = 615.67 so i believe the correct answer is 682 - 616
