how can you subtract fractions when they dont have the same denominator or a least common denominator?
YOu have to find a common denominator do you have an example?
3/2-2/3
i dont get it
ok so Can I show you http://www.dabbleboard.com/draw?b=Guest644716&i=0&c=3327a9e1158d904a38fbad735c24ed28cad7bcd9 so I can write it out for you?
you find out what both denominator numbers have in common
o lol
sure
for you 3/2 and 2/3 example, both 2 and 3 go into 6 or 12, you could use either as a LCD
Right so what they both can go into which is six
you find a lcm, least common multiple of the numbers and then multiply all numerators so that the denominators have the same base
o ok thank u!
(note that you wouldnt actually want to use the 12 i mentioned, just trying to show that you technically could if you wanted to)
i no lol
so your answer would be 5/6
