at a homeowners accosication meeting a board memenber can vote yes or no on a motiion. there are three motions on which the board memenber must vote. determine the probablity that a board member votes yes on all 3 motions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many homeowners are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesnt say it only says that they are 3 motions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes yes yes yes yes no yes no yes yes no no no no no no yes yes no yes no no no yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are total eight possible ways of voting.Out of which you want only one (all 3 yes).So the probability is 1/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so.. about 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1 out of 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1/2^3\] since the total amount is \[2^3\] and there is only one occurence of all yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would be the probability that a board member votes yes on atleast one motion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well there is only one occurence where they vote all no, so that means that the remaining possibilities have at least one yes. so 7/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
