6÷2(1+2)=?
PEMDAS
I'll give you a hint to solve such questions: Please (parenthesis) Excuse (exponents) My (multiplication) Dear (division) Aunt (addition) Sally (subtraction) now give it a try :) which will you compute first? ^_^
true, but if there is no implicit * symbol, do you expand the formula 2(1+2)? The way it is written, both the 1 and 2 should be multiplied by 2 correct?
In essence, wouldn't 2(3) get performed before the division, ONLY because there is no implicit multiplication symbol.
2(1+3) is like 2 x (1+3) ^_^ and if you ace division and muliplication, always start from the left
if both exist, then start computing from what is found left :)
2(1+2) is also like 2+4
is it? I don't think so
oh wait
it is LOL!
there's the problem. without the implicit multiplication symbol, I argue that it is 2+4 and therefore the answer is 1
lol you can have more than one symbol
here :\[6 \div 2(1+2) = 6\div 2 \times 3 = 3 \times 3 = 9\]
like I've said, if you face both multiplcation and division at the same time, compute from left to right ^_^
shouldn't 6÷2×3 actually be 6 / 2 + 4?
which case 6 / 6 = 1
why so? Advise :) try to solve the question as simply as you can instead of complicating it ^_^
wait, is this question in fraction form?
no fraction form
then just compute it from the way I showed u :)
if I have the formula as y= 6 / x(z+x), then you would simplify to y = 6 / xz + xx. If x = 2 and z = 1, answer would be 1 would it not?
now that's another story, you don' follow the steps here :)
because we simplify
