 Given log b 3 = 0.8397 and log b 7 = 1.4873, evaluate log b 3b

OpenStudy (amistre64):

can you make that more readable?

OpenStudy (yuki):

\[\log_b 3b \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to write it but it was the way yuki write

OpenStudy (yuki):

can be split into two parts, \[\log_b 3 + \log_b b\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand why you need all of those logs. \[\log_{b} (3) = 0.8397\] \[\log_{b} (7) = 1.4873\] \[\log_{b} (3b) = 3\]

OpenStudy (yuki):

the left one is given and the right one is equal to 1

OpenStudy (yuki):

so\[\log_b 3b = 1.8397\]

OpenStudy (yuki):

you just need to remember the fact that log (a * b) = log(a) + log(b) and \[\log_c (c) = 1\]

OpenStudy (yuki):

does that help at all ?

OpenStudy (yuki):

hellomoto?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you very much yuki
