Suppose you draw two tennis balls from a bag containing seven pink, four white, three yellow, and two striped balls. What is the probabililty of getting yellow and pink balls with replacing?
one yellow and one pink, you mean?
yeah
ok hold on a sec
k
100 out of 256, if the order of the yellow and pink doesn't matter
can you write out how you got that?( like the different steps under one another)?
well first you need to find the total possibilities. Which is 16x16, because there are 16 total. that is 256. The possibility of getting pink or yellow is 7+3=10. So 10x10=100/256. Also, I forgot, you can simplify. 100/256. Divide by 4. 25/64.
thanks:)
no problem
ok.... so whats the probability of getting a pink one and a striped one without replacing?
without replacing, the total possiblities changes. instead of 16x16, its 16x15. 240. pink and striped is 7+2 9 total. but because there is no replacing it is not 9x9, it is 9x8. 72. So 72 over 240. Simplify. Divide by 4. 13/60.
thanks! i have a lot more though! can you stay and help me?
ok
YAY! thanks so much! ok so still doing this, whats the probability of getting two pink balls with replacing?
7x7=49. Remember 256 possibilities for replacing. so 49/256. Can't simplify that.
any more?
YEAH A LOT!
