how do you find the radius of a circle with center at the origin and with the point (-2,5) on the circle?

You could do one of two things: You could use the distance formula to find the radius (x1+x2/2, y1+y2/2) and square it, putting it on one side of the equal sign. Then, you take those coordinates, and you place them in the formula for a circle ((x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2=r^2). And remember, always use the sign OPPOSITE the numbers in the coordinate pair. That is a critical point that alotta ppl miss
