\[(x_{1},y_{1}),(x_{2},y_{2})\] if these are our two points, the midpoint is the avergage of the x and y coordinates: \[((x_{1}+x_{2})/2,(y_{1}+y_{2})/2)\]

if a line joins the midpoint of 2 sides of a triangle then its parallel to base and has a length which is half the length of the base...here the base is the third side
