can you be clearer?
is it (x+4)over 3 or x+ 4over 3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x + 4 over 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x = 10/7 - 4/3
x = (30-28)/21
x=2/21
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay so i don't substract
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can ask you a question Dindatc

i just have several that i can't seems to figure
OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay
OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will be right back

ok
-4/3 x = -2 -12
-4/3 x = -14
because both sides have ( - ), you can eliminate that ( - )
4/3 x = 14
now to find x, divide both sides with 4/3
x = 14 : 4/3
x = 14 * 3/4 =21/2
i use * as a symbol for "multiplied with"
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay sorry i am back
OpenStudy (anonymous):
np, do you understand now?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well did you add 4 and 4 to come up with the 7 to find 14
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sorry, which part is it? i dont get it

4/3x=14
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no, before that, it's
-4/3 x = -14
i just multiplied both sides with -1 to eliminate the ( - ) to get
4/3 x = 14
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i guess maybe i am trying to see where 14 came into play
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Algebra is not my cup of tea

some of it i get but not all of it

oh okay,
the question is
12 - 4/3x= -2
i substract both sides with 12, in order to leave only -4/3x on left side.
12-12-4/3 x = -2-12
-4/3 x = -14
that's where -14 comes from
