What is the difference between current and charge? is current simply a charge moving through matter, or am i way off???

yes u are right...
when charges flow in a definite direction then current is set up in that direction
ah i see, thank you, can i jst get clarification about 'definite direction', do you mean for example, when a charge moves through a wire it is moving in a definite direction as it is moving towards a fixed point of positive charge on the other side? if so, can you give an example where 'charge' is transferred or 'moved' but it is not considered current?? appreciate the help mate
due to thermal energy the electrons also moves but this movement is random...so it doesn't produce current
ahh gotcha, thanks
Current is basically charge taken with respect to time.
