OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=2x^2-20x-9\] is a parabola facing up. has not max. min is at the vertex which is \[x=-\frac{b}{2a}=5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is not the minimum though, that is the x that gives it to you . to find the minimum find \[f(5)=2\times 5^2-20\times 5-9\] \[50-100-9\] \[-59\]

please tell me this is not a calculus problem but rather an algebra one yes?

a algebra question and thank you
