The number of $2, $5 and $10 notes in a bag is in ratio of 1 : 7 : 3. The notes are worth $2278 altogether. How many $2-notes are there?

1*2+7*5+3*10=67 2278/67=34

the same way amk 007 did it, just find out how much money the simple ratios make, and divide 2278 by that, that gives you how many 'lots' of the notes there are in their respective ratios

u can even divide 67 by 2 that will give 33.5 which means 34

:o but if its the total number of notes, then how come there are 34 $2 notes? and the ratio is 1:7:3 . the total number of notes should be (34 x 11) 374

actually it's the total number of ratio from which u'll get the number of notes!

:o okay i get it now. that means the new ratio is 2:35:30 and u add them all up to get 67?
