A boat at anchor is bobbing up and down in the sea. The vertical distance, y, in feet, between the sea floor and the boat is given as a function of time, t, in minutes, by y=18+2sin(2*pi*t) ft. Find the vertical velocity, v, of the boat at time t.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v=?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the derivative of position is velocity

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y'=4pi.cos(2pi.t)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2pi*cos(2pi*t) ;] thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dont forget the 2 that was hanging out there to begin with

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2.2pi.cos(2pi.t)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, i typed the equation wrong. it was sin(2*pi*t). In that case you were right, again.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol ..... thnx ;)
