Scott and Ian, identical twins, are sleepy every day in their 1:00 history class; they often doze and want to know why, so they can prevent the drowsiness and improve their history grades. Maybe eating a big lunch just before going to history everyday makes them sleepy. Or maybe the classroom is too warm. Maybe Scott and Ian are listless because they sit in the back of their history class and are less involved than they are in their other classes, where they always sit in front. Perhaps their history professor is really boring. Or maybe it's just the time of day.

ok well my opinion and i went throught this from before i sit in the back of the class but that dosent matter all u have to do just .focus with the teacher and eat before u come to the class its very important and open the windows in the class i dont like to get hot in class and for the sleepy sleep early thats all ," Perhaps their history professor is really boring" yes yes thtats true if the professor(teacher) was boring i dont pay attention so maybe this is a reason

The "afternoon slump" that nearly everyone feels is actually a biological (and arguably evolutionary) mechanism that most diurnal animals have. The afternoon is the hottest part of the day, during which the body is easily stressed. It is more beneficial to daytime dwelling animals to rest during the hot afternoon, than it is for them to hunt/migrate/etc so our bodies are "programmed" to tell us to rest during the afternoon. Scott and Ian are going to feel at least a little sluggish in the afternoon, and it's perfectly natural... unfortunately. However, remaining hydrated and eating a nutrient-packed diet will help moderate their energy levels. Avoiding highly processed, sugary foods will help maintain blood glucose and prevent a "sugar crash." A small cup of coffee, preferably black, may help give them a little boost, but they shouldn't overdo it with sugary energy drinks. If possible, an afternoon nap before going to class may help. Based on personal experience, doing something like doodling in the margins of their notes, wiggling their feet, or creating some other minor distraction might help keep them awake enough to make it through history. Hope this helps.
