Bascially, with molecular theory, unpaired electrons are attracted to a magnetic field (paramagnetic) and paired electrons are repelled by a magnetic field (diamagnetic). Using a molecular orbital diagram (look it up if you dont know what im talking about) and putting all the bonding electrons in it, we see that all electrons are paired and therefore Br2 is diamagnetic.
