A large pond is stocked with fish. The fish population P is modeled by the formula P = 2t + 10 (sqrt of t)+ 120, where t is the number of days since the fish were first introduced into the pond. How many days will it take for the fish population to reach 500? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)

any luck?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the square root part is throwing me; so lets just wolframalpha it :) t =abt 133 2(133) +10sqrt(133) + 120 = 501.325....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 133?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ideally you set x = sqrt(t) and solve it for a regualr looking quadratic :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

133 is rounded to the nearest whole number yes
