pls my colleagues, during translation, does the mrna with its codon look for a trna that has it base pairing or does it happen the other way around?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doing this from totally from memory, so someone jump in if i mess this up: mRNA should be attached to the ribosome during translation, so the tRNA recruits the correct amino acid to the mRNA/ribosome complex that is being translated. So the tRNA goes to the mRNA. here is a video of the process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6O6uRb1D38

thanks but does the ribosomes read the mrna after the codon binds to the anticodon or before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it all happens simultaneously. the mRNA is a long strand remember, its a RNA version of the coding gene (minus introns). So the mRNA moves one codon at a time through the ribosome. as this is happening, the tRNA is bringing amino acids to the ribosome to be peptide bonded to the protein being produced. The tRNA anti-codon binds to one codon at a time as the mRNA is being read by the ribosome. I found a better animation, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9dhO0iCLww the video is a little silly, but does a great job and i think its pretty creative and awesome
